The ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics record the Honeydew Melon as far back as 2,400 B.C.E.  It was a prized for it’s sweet refreshing taste and replenishing fluid benefits. The ancient Egyptians regarded the honeydew as sacred and it was only reserved for society’s elite.  The Honeydew was eventually introduced Palace of Versailles Menuto Europe during the rise of the Roman Empire.  During the 15th century, the records of the exquisite French royal court at the Palace of Versailles enjoyed the Honeydew Melon in their daily feasts.

The Honeydew melon is a great summer treat to replenish the body’s fluids with many additional vitamins and minerals.  The main nutrients found in honeydew melon include the B vitamins, niacin and thiamine, Vitamin C, copper, potassium, magnesium, iron and zinc.

The Honeydew melon contains high amounts of a unique antioxidant defense to fight free radicals that cause aging and disease and assist with the attempt to prolong the youthful supple skin appearance. Antioxidants are important to your beauty health and wellness because they fight off free radicals that rob your cells of oxygen (otherwise known as oxidative stress). If left unchecked, the free radicals can cause serious harm to your cells causing inflammation and eventually accelerated aging.

The Vitamin C content in honeydew melon juice is good for the skin as it improves collagen levels. Collagen is a type of protein that helps strengthen skin cells and blood vessels. It also helps fight the effects of aging, such as wrinkles and firmness of the skin.  Improvements in collagen levels also help repair tissues.  It is especially helpful for those who include exfoliation into their daily beauty regime.

When you are at the market selecting your Honeydew melon, make sure it has a creamy white pale shell. A ripe fruit will have a lovely aromatic smell and you can easily tell that it is ready to be juiced. If the Honeydew melon is not ripe, let it stay at room temperature for a couple of days or set it next to an apple as apple ripen fruits and veggies twice as fast as normal ripening timelines.  Once ripe, the Honeydew Melon should be stored in the refrigerator and consumed within 2 to 3 days.

  • 1 slice honeydew melon at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon organic milk (2% or whole milk)
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Moisturizing Honey Melon Mask Recipe Directions:

Mix together the ingredients in a mixer, food processor or by hand with a whisk and masher.

Blend all the ingredients until a smooth creamy mixture is produced.

Moisturizing Honey Melon Mask Application:

Before you apply the mask, ensure the face and neck has been cleanse properly. Apply the mask with clean fingertips but avoid the eye area. Allow the mask to dry for at least 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat the skin gently to dry and proceed with the moisturizer routine.
